In terms of quantity of real estate agents Costa Rica is saturated; the main reason is that there is no licensing process to become one as there is in countries like the United States. All you have to do to become a real estate agent in Costa Rica is say you are one! Then you can build a website and list some properties in there and there you have it, you’re an agent :-)

Unlike agents, international mortgages for Costa Rica are nearly impossible to find, so we have financed many of our past buyers directly. Some of them simply do not have 100% of the funds to purchase a property in Costa Rica, and some of them are looking for Costa Rica investment properties to rent out right away, taking advantage of the worldwide booming “AirBnb economy”, so having a low interest mortgage is the way to go. That way they can rent our move-in ready homes from the get go, rental income pays for the monthly mortgage, and the leftover is profit :-)
